Our annual meeting will be on Sunday, May 15, at 2 pm at Turkey Red in Palmer. Please come and find out what’s happening at RFP as we gear up to go on the air this summer. Renew your membership, vote for the Board, and let us know what you’d like to hear on the air and how you’d like to help. Our project manager, Caroline Willis, will give a status report on our plan to be on the air on July 4. Come enjoy light refreshments and get the latest scoop on your radio station.
Board elections – 2 openings, 2 candidates
Two seats are up this year. Mike Chmielewski is running again. Jim Sykes chose to step down (he’ll still be volunteering). David Cheezem, a founding board member, has been solicited to return to the board and has agreed to run.
Funding update
We are submitting grant applications to the Rasmuson Foundation and MEA Roundup, as well as making appeals to several local businesses. Our nest egg will get us through the next few months and we are looking for special donations and expanding the membership to keep us afloat.
Project manager hired
RFP has come a long way with a working, volunteer board and key volunteers. For this last push to get us on the air, we need someone who has the time, energy, and expertise to bring us on the air. We have found that person in Caroline Willis, who joined us on May 3. Caroline has been the station manager of UAA’s radio station KRUA for the past 2 years and has had experience in all areas of running a radio station – including overseeing equipment upgrades and installations at the transmitter site. She has hit the ground running.
